DMDN206 DESIGN AND THE INTERNET

3D collaborative design across global networks

Simon Roberts Project 2

The piece of architecture I have chosen to work with is Toyo Ito’s Umemiya House which was designed and built between 1981-1983. The overall plan is composed of two overlapping squares which accommodate a studio and dwelling areas. Blind Walls are used to control light and preserve a dim light

The interactive artist I have chosen is Daniel Sauter, he attempts to engage people in his design work by juxtaposing the ‘interaction’ with the setting of the work. That is what I find interesting with his work, is that he makes people take note of places and spaces which they would otherwise ignore.

My Design intent is to use Toyo Ito’s piece of architecture and engage the user, to take note of otherwise everyday ‘normal’ spaces, and question the relationships that they have.
