No commentsCherry’s (Ho Wah MAN) Design Intent : What’s inside people’s bag
Your bag tells alot about you. It offers a peek to one’s identity, their lifestyle, their personality and their personal taste.
Gordon Matta-Clark’s work has given me inspiration on this assignment. The way he section through spaces, show its layers and let visualist have different feeling of visualize in/out of its space.
Follow the example of Gordon Matta-Clark, I will venture into a new perspective of our everyday item “handbag”. The tools of survival of a modern urban person, I will examine and identify each object and its space inside handbags of todays individuals.

I’m the guy with the fibre-glass arm. I’ve decided I’d like to share my experience with other people thinking of breaking their arm in the future. My website will aim to help people through this exciting time by showing them how to first break their arm properly, then operate on it and finally choose the appropriate cast style for their personality! Ooo, fun!
Precedents : Aldo Rossi : His ideas of the interaction of time, elements and form being essential to creating architecture are interesing, and when related to interacive graphical information have potential to create new experinces on the net. Forms, shapes and objects “carry function and perimeter and other functions.” If we consider buildings as analogous to the website as a built form, Rossi thinks of them as “vehicles for events.”

I prefer to create a website to help people those are visiting Wellington, to easyly find out the retail building down Wellington central.
I chose Lequeu as my precedent. The reason is the space he designed was related to my building and his ideas were fundamentally based on hierarchy, his style is simple but clear. I like his ideas with strong colour contract and the different line weightiness.
I will follow these two precedent images which are showing down below, to make my space in programatic and simple way. Determine the shop and construction informations within the whole building. Not only to clearly understanding the function/programme of a retail space, but also to do the research about shops. Specially choosing the three main shops there, which are I would like to often.

Make sure design intents are up-to-date and include modifications you may have had in previous discussions with us/ classmates.
Those people without server space- meeting today to further explain and get you online.
The rest that already have server space need to check they can…
- optomise a PowerPoint so it is as small as possible
- zip it/ archive it
- upload it to server
- link to it off Blog as an addition to your design intent post.
Those people that missed critique on navigation must present today.
On the LANshare there is a DMDN206 directory with film footage of your critique on Tuesday.
- Open this up in Quicktime and trim to your crit
- then export at 320 by 240 resolution using the sorenson 3 codec at medium-high quality
- Check it is a resonable size, say 2-20MB
- Upload this .mov file to your server also
- Link to it from the Blog
Check with us before the end of the day how you might put your site together Flash-wise and what resources you might need.
Touch base with us quickly on visual aesthetic and precedent images gathered so far for Tuesdays PowerPoint presentation.

Object -Apple iPod
Precedent – Gordon Matta-Clark
With this project I intend to explore the worlds leading portable media player. Through the unique navigation of this device I will express the following capabilities; file format storage (such as .JEPG, .BMP, .PED, .PNG, .Gif, etc.) portability in semblance of size, and the overall success of Apples design concepts and expressions. I will also demonstrate how iPod paired with iTunes, has taken control of the digital music market.

6 commentsFlash website links
Hey,
If anyone is looking for some more cool flash sites to use as precedents the Favourite Website Awards website has a whole pile of links to really great websites, a wide variety of different flash “styles”…so check it out. Brawny Academy was quite good. It kept me amused for hours (well, the videos did at least)
Enjoy,
Jenni
Rhys Design Intent
My object is an SLR Camera. instead of focusing on the object itself i have chosen the viewfinder as a means to portray the way we look at things when framed. I have chosen the school of architecture as my subject and in particular how to navigate the school since it’s Wiggan St addition. My precedent for how my site will portray itself is Aldo Rossi and his use of shadow to depict what can’t be seen.

The idea is to show Michael Graves “Water Kettle”.
Some different types and special editions that though out the years have been coming out.
Also a brief story on Michael Graves.
Links to his website.
Sketches.
And maybe a story on Alessi that was the company that got the kettle out.
And maybe a story behind Memphis.
Just showing what has Michael Graves done and what makes the kettle a design classic.
